David Havercroft will probably be feeling ill at ease right now as the lifeless body of his former superior Frank Mount is dragged away by the storm troopers. Paul Reynolds turns slowly to the newly appointed Havercroft. "Do not fail me Admiral". This story could be from a galaxy far far away, but it isn't. It is the story of corporate failure in the modern world. |

A few days ago Andrew Joseph Stack crashed his plane into a IRS building. The New York Times was quick to say that "NOTHING can excuse the murderous intentional plane crash into the Internal Revenue Services", and that that the four page suicide note was rambling, profanity filled and proved how unbalanced he was, that he was somehow mentally disturbed.

Although I have been critical of waterfall in the past I recently came to a
realisation; that evolution is something that occurs in software development
regardless of whether you intend it or not. Unless your software is dead.
In the past I have seen waterfall as a method diameterically opposed to
evolutionary methods such as Extreme Programming. However, I now see that
all software development is always subject to evolution. Even projects
run strictly on a waterfall basis cannot escape from the process of selection
which occurs in a free market. |

One year ago I posted an article about my new autonomous boat. Well it is now almost complete. The construction of the hulls is now mostly complete and I have finally got the new ARM based single board computer working. Over the holidays I plan to complete the prototype and have it in the water. |
