John Shelby Spong is a retired Episcopalian Bishop with some very interesting points of view on Christianity. In fact it isn't the first time that I have seen the views of Christians tend toward Pantheist and Stoic beliefs and philosophies to this extent.
Recently the Australian Government made a commitment to Open Government. New Rule #1: You can't say you are committed to Open Government when you respond like this to a request for official information. New Rule #2: You can't say you are committed to Open Government while at the same time proposing to read peoples mail and listen in on their communications. New Rule #3: You can't say you are committed to Open Government while saying that it may lead to premature unnecessary debate.
The Government has decided to introduce a ninety day trial period for new employees. Once again we see a complex issue being divided between left and right, employers vs employees. As someone who has been on both sides of this fence I think this is a good move.
If ever there was a demonstration of where hate and intolerance leads it is Gaza. Will there ever be a way past the hatred that seethes between Israel and Gaza? One must hope, but also recognize some serious issues that stand in the way. Since the Israel attacked a humanitarian ship in International waters there has been international condemnation. Murder and violence are wrong. Period. But moralizing doesn't get us any further towards a solution.
DB Breweries supports our right to free speech. Yeah right. The sad fact is that the company who saw fit to take requisition part of our cultural heritage as part of their self interested advertising campaign is now trying to silence the free speech of a harmless Church in Tauranga. Well I'm going to introduce Tui to how we stand up for our rights.
